How Do You Evaluate an Athlete's Success?
An athlete's success can be measured a number of ways, but for a lot of people it is only results. This makes OJ Simpson, Rae Carruth, Art Schlichter and a bunch more, successes. Mind you, you may have to go to a prisson to get an autograph.
I was lucky to have been able to coach the sport of wrestling at a Canadian University for 20 years, and have a number of outstanding athletes who have gone on to graduate and persue careers.
Each year I will meet up with a number of wrestlers I had coached. Their athletic acomplishments are often forgotten but not what they have become, that is always clear to see.
Below is a video recording of Rob Smyth's speach following his incuction onto Lakehead University's Wall of Fame. It is a good day when a school or institution recongnizes people who achieved as an athlete and have become success in their careerr as well.
